The Name Behind the Craft
In the old Scots tongue, a "spae wife" was the village seer — the woman folk sought for counsel on matters of love, loss and fortune. She read the signs in tea leaves, cards and the flight of birds. Our shop carries that tradition forward.
We started in 2012 at a small market stall in Edinburgh, selling hand-poured candles and second-hand tarot decks. Word spread among local reading circles, and within two years we had outgrown the stall entirely.
What We Believe
Divination is not about predicting a fixed future. It is a conversation with yourself — a mirror held up to your intuition. The tools we sell are exactly that: tools. They work because you bring meaning to them.
We believe in ethical sourcing. Our crystals come from small-scale mines with fair labour practices. Our candles use plant-based waxes and lead-free wicks. The decks we stock are printed on FSC-certified card.
